I can’t believe it’s that time of year again! How quickly has 2017 flown by? I think this has probably been one of my best years yet. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some shitty times but it can’t go your way every single day otherwise you’d never appreciate the high times, right?
Anyway, with December less than 12 hours away, I thought there is no way I can leave this post any longer and – seeing as I already have my tree up – the festive season has technically already started. In my eyes, anyway. So, with that being said, I’ve put together my top advent picks for all you gorgeous cruelty-free vegans out there. And, if you’re not vegan, why not give these a go instead of your standard Dairy Milk, Lindt or Galaxy calendar? You may just surprise yourself!
Montezuma’s Christmas – £9.99*
Monty’s have once again pulled their countdown to Christmas out of the bag. The cute red-themed design featuring leaping reindeer and snowflakes on the front just screams a feel-good festive season. And, if the packaging wasn’t enough, every door contains a thick piece of organic dark chocolate that just melts in your mouth as soon as you slip it between your lips. A small piece of heaven every morning AND saving animals! What more could you want?
Montezuma told me: “Our fantastic organic advent calendars sell out almost as quickly as we can make them! With a hefty chunk of chocolate behind every door, this is the perfect way to count down to the big day.”
Lush’s 12 days of Christmas – £67.50 *
Lush’s 12 Days of Christmas seems to be a popular choice among vegans and meat eaters every single year – and rightly so! The only downside to this calendar is that you only get 12 products – bath bombs, body conditioners, shower gel, soap and bubble bar – but they’re all full size and, I don’t know about you guys, but I never use a full bomb for one bath because I feel like that’s a huge waste and it’s nice to be able to use the same scent numerous times.
Hotel Chocolat – £12.50
I’m so glad I managed to get my mitts on this delicious advent calendar!
As most of you know, I’m a coeliac so I was concerned when I read online that the chocolate contain biscuits. I emailed the company and asked them to clarify whether this is gluten-free and luckily it is! The solid pieces of chocolate are made with 70% cocoa and each door has a witty quote from Charles Dickens.
Here’s what they told me: “Countdown to the big day in solid reindeer, snowmen, penguins and enchanted spruces cast in vegan-friendly, smooth 70% dark with rich cocoa notes. Behind each door reveal witty quotes from Dickens to Willy Wonka originating in the pages of our book The Meaning of Chocolate*. It doesn’t contain any gluten in it, it’s just pure 70% chocolate shapes.”
Chocologic – £3.99
Now this is the perfect calendar if you’re looking for something relatively cheap. At just £3.99, it’s well worth it. So, seeing as I’m doing a blog post on my favourite advent calendars, obviously I had to try the chocolate – two days later and I’ve eaten the lot! This chocolate is so yummy, they’re relatively thin pieces but the taste is to die for! It doesn’t taste vegan at all but, of course, it is! These are perfect for children as well because of the word search on the back!
Yankee Candle – £24.99
And, lastly but certainly not least, the Yankee Candle advent wreath.
How cute does this look? For anyone who would prefer to skip the chocolate this year, a candle calendar is just perfect. A gorgeous little tea light behind every door to get you ready for those cozy winter nights! Yankee is actually completely vegan but be careful if you’re buying form the US as they do have beeswax ones!
I hope you have the most wonderful advent and Christmas but make sure you pop back as I do have some gift guides planned in case any of you are interested in vegan goodies!
Love and hugs x
